“I Am Rich, I Am Just Humble”: Bahati Fires Back at Fred Arocho Over KSh 1 Million Pledge

Musician Kevin Bahati has hit back at sports commentator Fred Arocho after being called out for failing to deliver on his KSh 1 million pledge to Harambee Stars players. The singer, who made the promise during the team’s Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) run, has now accused Football Kenya Federation (FKF) vice president McDonald Mariga of contributing to the delay.
Why did Fred Arocho call out Bahati?
Before Harambee Stars’ crucial clash against Morocco, Bahati and his wife, Diana Marua, showcased KSh 1 million in cash online and promised it to the players if they won. Against all odds, Kenya defeated Morocco, but Bahati did not immediately honor his pledge. He later claimed tournament rules prevented him from handing over the cash at that time.
His silence afterwards drew sharp criticism from fans, fellow celebrities, and especially Arocho, who went as far as issuing him an ultimatum on live TV.

What did Bahati say in response?
After weeks of criticism, Bahati resurfaced with a video flaunting KSh 3 million in cash. In the clip, he denied chasing clout and directly blamed Mariga for not responding to his calls about arranging the handover.
In a heated phone exchange with Arocho, Bahati said, “I have been seeing you online just making noise. Where is that team? I have returned.” When urged to coordinate with Mariga, he fired back: “How can I plan with Mariga when he has not been picking up my calls the entire week? You guys wanted me to abandon plans I had already made for my son’s birthday just because of KSh 1 million. Hio kelele mmepiga online sijapenda.”
Did Bahati admit he is chasing clout?
Bahati went further, dismissing claims that he was broke. He insisted, “I do not want to listen to irrelevant things. If you guys think that every artist is broke, I am not. I don’t like saying it, but I am fully packed. I am rich, I am just humble because I am still saved, but that doesn’t mean they should test me.” He even joked that he could buy TV47 and make Diana Arocho’s boss.
