Raila Odinga: Massive Crowd Storms JKIA as Raila Odinga’s Body Arrives from India

The body of former Prime Minister and Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga arrived at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) to overwhelming emotion and chaos as supporters flooded the runway to welcome their fallen hero.
ODM officials and Cabinet Secretaries, among them Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, were part of the delegation that travelled to India to oversee the return of the veteran politician’s body. Upon arrival, Raila’s remains were officially received by President William Ruto and former President Uhuru Kenyatta in a rare moment of unity between political rivals.
Raila’s loyal supporters, many carrying twigs and flags, broke through security barriers and sprinted toward the runway, chanting liberation songs and slogans in his honour. Videos shared by Varcity Africa showed hundreds waving orange scarves as security officers stood by, overwhelmed by the emotional crowd.
The ODM leader’s body was repatriated from India, where he had been undergoing medical treatment before his untimely death. His arrival marked a deeply symbolic and historic moment for millions of Kenyans who viewed Raila as a lifelong symbol of democracy and resilience. The nation remains gripped by grief as funeral arrangements continue.
