Ruto reminisced about their days in the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), where Ogeta was known for his unmatched commitment and humility. “We must thank his security people. Maurice Ogeta, especially. Thank you very much, Maurice, for always standing with Raila. I remember Maurice in our days of ODM. This Maurice used to wipe our shoes when we came late from campaigns,” he said. The president went on to assure Ogeta of a chance to work with his administration, noting that his role in preserving Raila’s legacy would remain vital. “Maurice, I want to tell you, the government, as we look at Raila’s legacy, you too will stand guard to look at Raila’s legacy. Together with everyone who walked with Baba,” he added.
