No Hot Shower at Emirates?Atletico Madrid File Complaint Against Arsenal

Atletico Madrid have lodged a formal complaint against Arsenal ahead of their highly anticipated Champions League showdown on Tuesday night. The Spanish club were left frustrated after experiencing poor conditions during their final training session at the Emirates Stadium on Monday evening.

What sparked Atletico Madrid’s complaint against Arsenal?

According to The New York Times, Atletico Madrid players were forced to train in the rain without access to hot water afterward. The club reportedly waited for over an hour as the issue went unresolved, eventually leaving the stadium and returning to their hotel. The situation prompted Atletico to file a complaint, arguing that the lack of hot water violated UEFA’s infrastructure standards, which require host stadiums to provide adequate facilities.

Arsenal are said to have apologized to the visitors after quickly addressing the issue. However, it remains unclear whether Atletico Madrid will push for any formal disciplinary action. UEFA regulations primarily apply to matchday conditions rather than training sessions, which may limit the grounds for a formal case.

Arsenal vs Atletico Madrid: What to expect tonight

This match marks the first meeting between the two sides since their 2018 Europa League semi-final, where Atletico triumphed before going on to win the tournament. Arsenal, currently fifth in their Champions’ League group, enter the clash with strong momentum following a five-match winning streak in the Premier League.

Mikel Arteta’s side will, however, be without several key players, including Kai Havertz, Martin Odegaard, Noni Madueke, and Gabriel Jesus. Atletico manager Diego Simeone will also Miss Nico Gonzalez but remains confident in his squad’s depth.

Arteta praised Simeone ahead of the encounter, saying, “I think what he’s done since he got to Atletico has been outstanding, not only what he has achieved but the way he’s done it. I think the identity that he has created for the club, for the team, the spirit, I think they are very simple and clear to identify, and that’s because the manager is very much them.”
