Mama Gift Thanks TikTokers after Emotional Embu Fundraiser for Her Ailing Son

Embu-based TikToker Mama Gift Gathoge has shared an emotional message of gratitude following the incredible show of love and support she received from Kenyans during her widely covered fundraiser at Njukiiri Showground on Sunday, October 26, 2025.
Speaking to a local YouTuber the following day, Mama Gift, who has documented her daily struggles caring for her son living with severe cerebral palsy, said she was deeply touched by the outpouring of generosity from people across the country.
“Hello everyone, I am Mama Gift, and I would like to take this opportunity to thank all Kenyans, and not only Kenyans, but every single person who came to represent others at my event. I sincerely thank you so much for accepting my invitation to the fundraiser and for doing such a good deed,” she said.
She described the experience as humbling and uplifting, adding that the support renewed her faith and strength to continue caring for her son. She also expressed gratitude to those who contributed virtually, acknowledging that every gesture, big or small, made a difference.
“May God bless you abundantly for your support. I also appreciate those who were not able to attend or donate; whenever you get the chance, please make your contribution. I am deeply humbled. I have no words to express how I feel. I had waited for that day for so long, and finally it came, and I am truly happy with how everything turned out,” she added.
How Did TikTokers Turn the Event Into a National Movement?
The fundraiser became one of Kenya’s largest social media-led charity events this year, drawing TikTokers from across the country. The Njukiiri Showground overflowed with supporters, while others followed through TikTok live streams and car radios from the roadside.
Among the prominent attendees was forex trader Raymond Omosa, known online as Kenyan Prince, who made headlines by doubling his previous contribution to Ksh100,000. His close friend Mushkert FX donated Ksh50,000, while Gen Z MCA Mbithe Mulinge presented a cake for Baby Gift and contributed Ksh53,000.
Kaluma Boy, who recently benefited from a similar TikTok campaign, gave Ksh50,000 on behalf of himself and two other donors. Other creators, including Ngato wa Probox and Swings Mauno, also played key roles, with Mauno pledging to furnish Mama Gift’s home completely.

What Does This Mean for Kenya’s Digital Philanthropy?
The event, hosted by MC Chris Kirubi, turned into a celebration of kindness and unity, showcasing how Kenya’s digital generation is reshaping charity culture. The loud cheers, waving flags, and endless convoys of boda bodas painted a picture of a movement driven by empathy and purpose.
Mama Gift’s son, Baby Gift, continues to battle severe cerebral palsy, asthma, cardiovascular complications, and recurrent convulsions. Despite the immense challenges, the Embu mother now walks with renewed hope, backed by a growing community that believes in the power of compassion.
