Mombasa-based TikTok creator Mariam Antonet Lwande, popularly known as Digda, has died just three hours after going live on TikTok. Her sudden death has left Kenya’s online community in shock, with many fans struggling to process how a vibrant personality could be gone so soon.
Digda was admired for her infectious humor, expressive Kiswahili, and food content that drew thousands of followers. Only hours before her passing, she shared videos showcasing her latest dishes, engaging her audience with the warmth and energy that made her a favorite among young Kenyans online.

A close source revealed that Digda experienced a sudden spike in blood pressure and was rushed to the hospital, where she passed away shortly after. “Her blood pressure ilipanda ghafla and she was rushed to the hospital where she sadly passed away,” the source said. The same insider shared that behind her lively social media presence, Digda had been quietly managing high blood pressure.
Days before her death, she made a heartfelt plea for unity among Kenyans. She urged her followers to rise above tribalism following criticism she faced for attending the burial of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga in Bondo, Siaya County. “Let us stop tribalism. I do not know who will bury me please. Baba has raised us. Let us not be tribalistic his death has hit us hard as Kenyans. We should pray we have come from far. Rest in peace Baba,” she said in one of her final live sessions.
