Kilimani Tinder Connection Ends in Fatal 14-Storey Plunge

What Details Have Investigators Uncovered about Festus Lee Oromo’s Death?
Residents of Kilimani are grappling with shock after the death of Festus Lee Oromo, who is believed to have fallen from the 14th floor of Heartland Apartments along Kindaruma Road on Sunday evening, November 30. His body was found on the roof of a white Nissan Tiida inside the compound, with injuries that indicated a high-impact plunge. The vehicle sustained heavy damage from the force of the fall.
A postmortem conducted today confirmed that Festus suffered extensive trauma, including multiple organ injuries affecting the head, chest, and abdomen. Both legs were fractured, providing further evidence of the severity of the impact. Investigators are now working to establish whether Festus accidentally fell or if he was pushed from the apartment balcony.
Police reports show that Festus had checked into the Airbnb unit 1406, Block B, on November 28. He was accompanied by two individuals who have since been placed under arrest: Lilian Moraa Mbeki and Patrick Jagongo. Court documents presented at Kibera Law Courts revealed that the room was found in disarray, suggesting the possibility of a violent altercation before the fall. At the time officers arrived, Lilian was reportedly asleep in one of the bedrooms and allegedly intoxicated. Clothing and identification documents belonging to Festus were found at the scene.
How Are Investigators Piecing Together the Events Leading to the Fatal Fall?
Early findings indicate that Festus and Lilian had met earlier this year through Tinder and had formed a close relationship. Lilian, a dual citizen of Kenya and Costa Rica, is reported to have made frequent visits to Kenya to meet him. Visitor logs also show that several guests accessed the apartment in the days leading up to the tragedy, giving detectives more individuals to question as they trace Festus’ final interactions.
According to detectives, Lilian stated that she, Festus, and Patrick had been drinking together on the night of the incident. She claimed she went to the bedroom, leaving the two men in the living room. Her account is now being cross-examined alongside other evidence to determine the sequence of events before Festus fell.
Both Lilian and Patrick were arrested on Sunday, with Lilian being detained at the apartment and Patrick later picked up in Kahawa West. The Directorate of Criminal Investigations has been granted 14 days to hold and question the pair as the inquiry continues. Toxicology samples taken from the scene will help determine whether intoxicating substances influenced the events of the evening.
The case remains open as investigators search for clarity and urge anyone with useful information to come forward. The unfolding details surrounding the death of Festus Lee Oromo continue to raise questions, and authorities are working to understand what truly happened in the moments before the fatal plunge.
