Diana Marua Teases Bahati Over Woman Claiming to Be His Mother

YouTuber and digital content creator Diana Marua has playfully teased her husband, Kevin Bahati, after he posted a video addressing the woman claiming to be his biological mother. In a lighthearted comment on Bahati’s official Instagram post, Diana joked about the unusual situation using the nickname “Wewe Wetaa,” commonly associated with the Speaker of the National Assembly, Moses Wetang’ula. She poked fun at Bahati’s choice of a festive blue floral-print shirt in the video, writing:
“Story za ‘Mum’ Kando kidogo, mbona umeeka Christmas carols on a serious issue like this one? Wewe Wetaaa!”
What is Bahati saying about his identity?
In the video, Bahati expressed uncertainty about how to handle the claims. He wondered whether he should pursue a DNA test to verify the woman’s story. “Should I pursue a DNA is it even possible? If my mum were alive, that would have been the best thing in my life. I do not know what I should do. I have no contact of this woman, how will I get her someone help me?” he asked.

Bahati recalled attending his mother’s burial as a child, which complicates the situation. He also mentioned inconsistencies in the woman’s account, including doubts about his ethnic background. “Kuna story hazi add up juu inaweza kuwa mimi hukuwa tu mluhya na mimi sio mkamba inaweza kuwa najiforce na Kioko kumbe mimi nafa kuitwa Wetang’ula ama Natembea, but again I ask myself, I attended my mum’s burial, I was a child around seven years old, but I witnessed that grave,” he added.
Is this about clout or something serious?
Bahati refuted claims that he was chasing attention, explaining that the story genuinely surprised him. He shared that his elder brother, Kioko, had informed him years ago that the woman had been trying to reach him, but he had dismissed the attempts. “Vile hii story imetoka, my elder brother Kioko amenicall akaniambia huyu matha amekuwa akikutafuta for five years ata ashawai piga kwa simu yake my brother akaibrush off, sasa sahii ndio mimi nimemwona kwa video for the first time,” Bahati revealed.
He added that while some people’s comments suggested the woman resembled his children, he took the matter seriously. “This is very serious, it looks like a joke, but it is also emotional. Sitaki kuichukulia kama jokes juu am like, what if it was true? Let’s ask mamangu hukuwa tu ako hai mahali. I think that would change my life forever that is why I do not want to brush it off.”
The situation highlights both Bahati’s emotional conflict and the public attention that comes with being a high-profile figure, while Diana Marua continues to inject humor into a sensitive and complex moment.
