A tragic road accident in Homa Bay County claimed the lives of ten people and left six others seriously injured on Sunday night. The collision occurred near Chabera Trading Center in Rachuonyo East around 8 pm when a Nissan matatu carrying wedding attendees collided head-on with a lorry.
The victims included six women and four men, among them the matatu driver. According to Dennis Abong’o, Assistant Chief of Kodumo East Sub-location, the accident happened after the lorry driver lost control and veered into the oncoming lane, causing the devastating head-on collision.
The matatu was transporting members of a church from Nyamira County who had attended a wedding in Kakamega County. “They were returning home after celebrating with their community when this tragedy occurred,” local officials said.
