Former Lugari Member of Parliament Cyrus Jirongo died as a result of blunt force trauma, according to findings released in an official autopsy report. The examination was conducted by a team of pathologists led by Dr Johansen Oduor, alongside three family doctors, who jointly reviewed the injuries sustained during the fatal incident.

The medical team established that Jirongo suffered multiple severe injuries caused by fractures across several parts of his body. The force of the impact was described as extreme, leading to injuries that were immediately fatal. According to the report, the damage was extensive enough to cause instant death at the scene, leaving no opportunity for medical intervention.

Detailed findings showed that critical areas of the body were affected. Jirongo sustained fractures to his legs, ribs, and spine, alongside heavy internal bleeding. Blood loss was recorded in both the abdominal and chest cavities, indicating the severity of the trauma. Pathologists noted that the injuries were consistent with a high-impact accident.

What did the autopsy reveal about the cause of death?

The doctors involved in the examination were unanimous in their conclusions. All three family doctors concurred with the lead pathologist’s assessment that the injuries were severe enough to cause immediate death. To ensure a complete and thorough investigation, samples were also collected for toxicological analysis. These tests are intended to provide deeper insight and rule out any additional contributing factors to the veteran politician’s death.

The autopsy findings have provided clarity following the tragic road accident that occurred on Saturday in Naivasha. Jirongo was involved in the crash on what has now been described as a fatal day that ended his life abruptly. Authorities have not indicated any delay or dispute surrounding the medical conclusions.

With the cause of death now confirmed, burial arrangements are underway. The family has announced that Cyrus Jirongo will be laid to rest on the 30th of this month in Lumakanda, Kakamega County. Preparations for the burial are expected to bring together family members, political allies, and residents from across the region.
