What Happened to Principal Simon Isiaho?
Residents of Lugari, Kakamega County, are mourning after the body of Simon Isiaho, the principal of Munyuki PAG Secondary School, was discovered in the river Kipkaren. The body was found on Saturday, November 8, several days after he went missing under unclear circumstances. Authorities report that the body was badly mutilated, sparking widespread grief and concern in the community.

The discovery comes days after Isiaho was allegedly involved in a road accident on Monday, November 3. His heavily damaged car was found abandoned along the Eldoret-Malaba Highway, several kilometers from where his body was later recovered. At the time, there was no sign of the principal, raising fears about his safety and prompting urgent calls for investigations.

How Are Authorities Responding to the Incident?
The Kenya Union of Post-Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) has urged the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to fast-track inquiries into the disappearance and death of Principal Isiaho. Johnston Wabuti, KUPPET chairman for Kakamega County, warned that if no clear report or action is taken, the union could disrupt the ongoing KCSE examinations by withdrawing all principals from exam centers. He said, “If there will be no step, or a report to explain what happened, we shall be forced to disrupt exam in this region. To withdraw all principals to demonstrate as from Tuesday.”

Kakamega Deputy Governor Ayub Savula also called for a thorough and speedy investigation. “We want to be told what happened from the accident scene to the river. Whoever is involved must be arrested, no one is above the law,” said Savula.

The tragic incident has left the community in shock and highlighted concerns about road safety and the urgent need for clarity in cases of unexplained disappearances. Authorities are now under pressure to determine the circumstances that led to the principal’s death and hold responsible parties accountable. This case serves as a grim reminder of the vulnerabilities faced by public servants and the need for swift justice in unexplained fatalities.
