Victor Osimhen Joins Galatasaray in €75 Million Record Transfer from Napoli

Victor Osimhen has officially signed a permanent deal with Turkish giants Galatasaray, leaving Napoli in a €75 million ($87.5 million) move that makes him the most expensive player in the club’s history. The four-year deal was finalized on Thursday after weeks of stalled negotiations over payment terms.

Why did Osimhen leave Napoli?

Osimhen played a pivotal role in Napoli’s 2023 Serie A title win but was loaned out to Galatasaray last season, where he had a standout performance, scoring 26 goals in 30 league appearances to help secure the Istanbul club’s 25th Super Lig title.

Despite his impressive run, Napoli’s new coach, Antonio Conte, did not appear to include the 26-year-old in his vision for the club’s upcoming season. Osimhen was noticeably absent as Napoli resumed pre-season training earlier this week, with the final details of his transfer still being ironed out at the time.

Osimhen’s signing signals a major statement of intent from Galatasaray as they look to strengthen their dominance in Turkish football and compete more aggressively in Europe. His move follows Napoli’s recent acquisition of Kevin De Bruyne from Manchester City, highlighting a reshuffle of major talent at both clubs.

With the Nigerian forward now officially part of Galatasaray’s squad, fans are eager to see if he can replicate his goal-scoring form and deliver success on both domestic and continental stages.
