How Did Mrisho Mpoto’s Wife Pass Away?
Tanzanian music icon Mrisho Mpoto has shared the painful story of his wife’s passing, revealing intimate details that left many fans in tears. Known for his musical collaborations with stars like Diamond Platnumz and his praise songs for President Samia Suluhu Hassan, Mrisho is now in mourning after losing his wife of 26 years.
Speaking in an emotional interview with Rich Media, Mrisho disclosed that his wife had battled high blood pressure for five years. Despite ongoing treatment, her health declined shortly after preparing for their adopted daughter’s upcoming wedding. “She was busy preparing for our daughter’s wedding. She had gone to buy wedding clothes when she called to inform me that her pressure was high and she was not okay. I picked her and rushed her to the hospital and after the pressure stabilised, we returned home,” he said.

What Were Their Final Hours Like?
That night, Mrisho recalled, his wife requested that he call their sheikh for prayers, but the cleric didn’t answer. What followed was a deeply touching moment between the couple. “She asked me about the last time we took a shower together, and we started making fun of that. Later, she asked me to bathe her, but I was hesitant. At 2 am, I bathed her and we returned to bed. While there, she asked me to hug her and we dozed off until morning,” he remembered.
The next morning, she seemed stable, but her blood pressure remained abnormal. At the hospital, her condition temporarily improved. Then came the devastating moment. “She asked to use the washroom but never returned. She fell down and died. I was told she died of a heart attack,” Mrisho said.
