Lulu Hassan and Rashid Abdalla, Kenya’s iconic media couple, marked 16 years of marriage on July 31 with a joyful Instagram post that warmed hearts across the country. Dressed in elegant Arabic-inspired outfits, the pair beamed beside each other as Lulu captioned the photo, “16 trips around the sun.” The image, which showed Rashid with a ceremonial sword and Lulu adorned in gold jewelry, quickly went viral, drawing love and admiration from thousands of fans online.
How did Lulu and Rashid’s love story begin?
Their journey started in Mombasa, when Lulu had just lost her mother and returned to her job at Radio Salaam. Rashid had newly joined the station. “At the time, I had no interest in love,” Lulu once shared. But Rashid became her anchor during her grief, and what began as a friendship slowly blossomed into something deeper. Today, the couple is proud parents of three and co-founders of Jiffy Pictures, a successful production company behind some of Kenya’s top TV dramas.
