Jeremiah Kioni Claims Gachagua Secretly Working With President Ruto

Jubilee Party Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni has alleged that former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua is working behind the scenes with President William Ruto. Speaking on Hot 96 Sunday evening, Kioni said Gachagua recently held a meeting in Narok County to address disputes over a party ticket denied to Narok Town Ward aspirant Joshua Ole Kaputa.

According to Kioni, about 15 people attended the meeting, including members of the clergy. He claimed that Gachagua explained that there was already an understanding with President Ruto that Joshua would receive a nomination at a later date. “Gachagua told them that William Ruto has already sent emissaries to them and they had an arrangement to put their houses in order and then meet to have a discussion,” Kioni alleged.

What did Gachagua allegedly promise?

Kioni further claimed that Gachagua boasted of securing political support across different regions. “And he was saying ‘by that time I will have the 7 million votes from the mountain region, 1 million from Kalonzo and 800,000 from Matiang’i. I will now have more than half of the cake and I will share some of it with the Maasai community. So Joshua, you should wait, we will nominate you.’”

Pressed for more details, Kioni declined to disclose specifics, saying, “He said it himself. I will give you the date and hour the minute I leave this place (studio).”

Kioni emphasized that Jubilee intends to align only with parties sharing its vision of removing Ruto from power. “We would like to work with like-minded parties that actually believe in sending William Ruto home not in ‘get your people and I get mine’,” he stated.

He also used the moment to rally young voters as the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) launched continuous voter registration on September 29. “You must register and register in numbers. It makes no sense to be an active critic of the government and fail to vote them out of office. Failure to do that amounts to voting them in,” Kioni urged.
