Loise Kim Warns Kenyans After Being Robbed at Betty Bayo’s Burial

Gospel singer Loise Kim has shared a disturbing experience that took place at the burial of the late gospel artist Betty Bayo, calling on Kenyans to stay alert during large gatherings. Hours after the Thursday, November 20, 2025 burial, she posted on Facebook describing how theft unfolded just as mourners were leaving the gravesite.

Loise explained that she was heading toward her parked car after the ceremony when she noticed a man inside the vehicle. She wrote that from a distance, it appeared as though he was busy with something, only for her to realise that he had already accessed her belongings. She recounted the moment, stating, “This evening, as we concluded the burial ceremony at the gravesite… And it was time to leave.. I approached where I had parked my car, and from a few meters I saw a man inside, and it was like he was busy. He got access to my car.”

According to her, the man attempted to defend himself by insisting he was not stealing, but the evidence clearly showed otherwise. Loise found him holding handbags belonging to her and others. She expressed her shock, saying, “I rushed there and found that he had collected our handbags and was ready to leave.. I was shocked to the maximum.. He tried to say that he was not stealing but It was evident that he was.”

How Did the Theft Affect Other Attendees?

Loise noted that several attendees also lost valuables. Among those affected was her sister, Pastor Anne Lawrence. Phones and other personal items reportedly went missing, revealing that the theft was not an isolated case. She cautioned the public to take car security seriously and safeguard their belongings during major events. She advised, “I kindly want to advise Kenyans at large.. When we have big events as such let us be vigilant in car safety and phones, because also today people lost phones, including my sister, Pst Anne Lawrence, and other personal items in a very large number. Still in shock.”

Her message served as a reminder that even moments of mourning can be exploited by opportunistic individuals, especially in large crowds where attention is divided.

What Happened at Betty Bayo’s Burial Ceremony?

The incident took place shortly after the emotional farewell for gospel singer Betty Bayo. The burial was held at her Mugumo Estate home following a ceremony at Ndumberi Stadium, which attracted a large gathering of fans, family, friends and fellow gospel performers. Only close relatives and friends were allowed to witness the final interment inside the homestead.

Betty Bayo, known for powerful songs such as “11th Hour” and “Busy Busy,” passed away on Monday, November 10, 2025, after a short battle with acute myeloid leukaemia (AML). Bishop Michael Wanderi of the Christian Foundation Fellowship, where she had been a minister, led the burial service. Prayers, tributes and flower-laying marked the farewell, with mourners visibly moved by her life and legacy.

The ceremony ended at around 6 pm as attendees slowly dispersed, any still grappling with the loss. Loise Kim’s experience added an unexpected layer of concern to an already emotional day, strengthening her call for vigilance at future public events.
